POSITION SUMMARY:

Working with researchers and faculty in an AI and data mining research
group (the Auton Lab, run by Andrew Moore). You will help invent
and implement solutions for transforming the results of the group's
research into finished stand-alone and or web applications that can
be used by a wide and varied user community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

At least a bachelor's degree in information systems or computer science
and knowledge of research techniques or equivalent combination
of training and experience; 2 or more years of research programming
experience; experience in programming artificial intelligence application;
skill in using programming languages especially ANSI C, but also
ideally including two or more of: C++, Perl, Java, SQL; excellent
analytical, problem solving and organizational skills; ability to
comprehend system and application related materials; create documentation
that can be understood by naïve users, design and maintain applications
using database techniques; communicate with systems users; understand
and follow directions; sedentary; close contact with CRT for prolonged
periods; ability to work under pressure; pay attention to detail;
meet inflexible deadlines; deal with difficult individuals while
maintaining composure; in order to meet deadlines, some evening and
weekend hours will be required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters level course work in computer applications; 3 or more years
experience in research programming.

Yeah, that article really does go into a tailspin about halfway through.

Btw, is it just me, or is the salary low for a "Senior Research Programmer" in RI?

Also, who's Howie? (like he never existed...)

hehe i heard howie's kinda mean as an advisor - ie not telling students they have no funding until a month before hehehe
