so I know Alan is off using some Mac RSS thingy and Jason uses a website. What are other people doing with RSS?

So, do rss aggregators let you use a username/password for sites so that you can get results for restricted forums as well?

If I find one, I'll definitely be using it. Haven't heard of one; haven't looked particularly hard.
In most cases, shouldn't it just be able to eat the cookies you already have on disk?

I don't think so since it's pulling from an essentially public place... I think the RSS feed needs to be cookie aware as well. So, until you prove otherwise, I think it's a problem with the plug-in supplying the feed.

Hm. I see your point. However, I don't see anyone changing the plugin until RSS aggregators are able to authenticate in some way.

Yeah, I do visit one site that has restricted forums that Safari RSS works for. Don't ask me how it works though.

You could always email the webmaster and ask. I'm sure at least some webmasters love to share info like that.
Or, grab the rss xml (use wget or something) and look at it in a text editor. Maybe it mentions cookies or passwords.
