Then I will amend my previous advice to the following: don't drink crap or weird stuff.
Guiness and Belgian white beer is not weird. I would say that's some of the best beer in the world. How can I make such a statement? There's a place in DC that has the most different types of beer in the world (it's in the Guinness Book of World Records). I've been there a few times and sampled a decent amount of different stuff (Russian beer is odd).
Microbrews are ok, but nothing I've had yet beats a black and tan.
I think Snake Bite was borderline decent, a mix of lager, cider and something else. Woodchuck falls into the decent pile (a pure cider). As for the restaurant, Jason is likely referring to the infamous Brickskeller.
