I’m glad my bicycling diary turned out to be useful!

Re: Legends of Runeterra
I tried it out. It feels similar to Eternal, very combo-heavy and a lot of card interactions that need to be played in the right order.
Seems like a decent time-waster on mobile once that comes out.

Re: Bicycles
I converted my steel Trek bike to a gravel bike: trek gravel.jpg The new wheels are 650b, and I put some tubeless 38mm tires on them. It was a pain setting up the tubeless tires; I spent like 2 hours unsuccessfully getting them to seat properly then learned that I was supposed to put two layers of t...

Legends of Runeterra
Open beta starts today. Jonathan have you looked into this at all? Seems like kind of a mishmash of Hearthstone and Artifact.

Re: Bicycles
Crank length affects your fit in two ways: one you need to adjust the height of your saddle so that your leg has the right amount of extension at the bottom of your pedal stroke and two you need to adjust how fore/aft the saddle is so that the front of your knee is directly above the pedal (using a ...

Re: Bicycles
The Chorus crankset is 172.5 mm, as are the Centaur and my 105 cranks. Maggie's used to a 165 mm so mine may be a bit too long for her. But she can probably try it out.

Re: Bicycles
Facebook Marketplace is a shitshow. On Monday, Maggie had to work so I had to come up with someplace to take the kids. I've been keeping an eye out for good deals on Marketplace and Craigslist since all I have for Maggie's bike is the frame and fork. Well, I came across a listing for an unspectacula...

Re: Bicycles
I needed help from a bike shop mechanic to get the fixed cup of the bottom bracket removed . The previous owner had not put any grease, lube, or anti-seize on the threads so it had seized. The headset is a little bit of an odd one, the Stronglight B10 , that has a plastic cup and roller bearings ins...

Re: Bicycles
I have a new project! I had floated the idea of building up an old steel bike for Maggie a while ago and she was excited about it. So for the past couple months I’ve been on the lookout for a quality vintage steel frame that I could get for cheap. There were several nice bikes I missed out on. The f...

Re: Bicycles
Sometime before next year's Belgian Waffle Ride I plan to convert the Trek bike into more of an all-road/semi-gravel bike. I'm planning to put either IRC Serac or IRC Marbella tires on my old wheels and go tubeless. I can't go bigger than my current 25c tires on my Ridley, but the Trek should let me...

Re: Bicycles
Ended up getting a Specialized Power Expert. Very comfortable, way more comfortable than my old saddle.
Also picked up my first set of carbon aero wheels, the Prime BlackEdition 50s. Inexpensive compared to other carbon wheels but even on sale the pair still cost $800.

Re: Bicycles
I just took off Erik's training wheels. Too bad the tube I repaired the flat in, got another flat when he was taking his first longer ride down the street. Probably a spoke or something broke free and is piercing the tube :-\ It's the rear wheel, so taking the wheel off is more of a pain. yay Still...

Re: Bicycles
I finished the bike last week. Cutting the cable housings was a bit of an adventure, I think I cut the front brake housing a little short which will probably lead to premature cable wear but I don't think it's a big enough problem to buy extra cable housing for it. I then had an issue with the chain...

Re: Bicycles
I ended up getting the silver Campagnolo Centaur groupset, minus the cassette and the brakes, which knocked $75 off the price. I will be using a Shimano cassette, and will stick with the brakes that are on the frame for now. If I get new brakes they would be medium-reach ones anyway. It'll be a few ...

Your second kidney is really just a backup. Whereas if you give up an arm, leg, or a foot you will need to make actual adjustments to your life.

Re: Bicycles
Decided to keep my existing stem because I found a 25.4 mm handlebar that'll work, the Nitto Classic 115. They have a slight 10 degree flare.
