Finally, a pervasive computing idea that makes sense. Clay Shirky's article on Grid Computing only underlines a conclusion I had reached myself: there is no killer app for public grid computing. However, suspend/resume relies on much of the same infrastructure and really could be.

I don't know. If I compile a library under *nix, it won't run on windows. Or if I made a COM under windows it won't run on *nix (without emulation).Dwindlehop wrote:http://business.newsforge.com/business/ ... =82&tid=94

As long as the underlaying platform is different it won't be true cross-platform.
However all this would change if java/.net really takes off, but I don't see java became anymore wide spread than they already do (unless their GUI programming has improved since I last used them). And .net has that whole M$ association and might not be really take off with open source crowd.

Interesting. The MPAA gets in on the act. 25% of Americans have downloaded a movie from the Internet.

Ever hear of Sho Yano?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sho_Yano
12 (I guess 13 now?) year old kid who goes to the University of Chicago Medical School as a MSTP (MD/PhD) student. He apparently has an unmeasurable (>230) IQ and scored 1500 on his SAT at age 8.
CNN article about him: http://us.cnn.com/2003/EDUCATION/08/25/ ... er.kid.ap/
Spank.
Edit: I wonder if I've posted this before and forgotten about it. I have a feeling of deja vu about this.

Man sets family on fire
Now that's what I call some "BURNING DESIRE!" Haha I'm so funny. I'll be here all week."He just went over the deep end. He probably just loved her too much. He didn't want to see his kids being taken care of by another man."
