I wonder if Google will bother to rank this system they're building on Top500... I wouldn't put it past them to just build (one of?) the most powerful computer(s) in the world and not tell anyone. Especially if they're gonna try to build an AI or at least a better assistant for the execs.

Anyone else following the Top500 lately?
https://www.top500.org/statistics/overtime/ and change the category to Countries and look at performance share. We've ceded performance to the Chinese for at least another year to come still.

Sure, there's no Sierra or Summit yet. Lots of flops in the biggest deployments. It's just a natural part of the upgrade cycle of DOE.

There's the upgrade cycle, but there's also the increased spending by China to develop their own systems. Seems they're spending way more than we are.

On a side note, they seem to be going the Intel Phi route for acceleration, so what does Intel think about that? Are they worried about other entrants offering a Phi-like ARM or other RISC architecture system?
