Cambridge Analytica is not going to the be only revelation according to this whistle blower.
Hundreds of millions of Facebook users are likely to have had their private information harvested by companies that exploited the same terms as the firm that collected data and passed it on to Cambridge Analytica, according to a new whistleblower.

Sandy Parakilas, the platform operations manager at Facebook responsible for policing data breaches by third-party software developers between 2011 and 2012, told the Guardian he warned senior executives at the company that its lax approach to data protection risked a major breach.

Exactly why I never log into the Facebook any more and haven't for years. This was discussed openly about the effect of apps on privacy way back before 2011 even

Need I go on? Apps started back in 2007 I think to provide a context for how long apps in particular have been an issue for them.

I also run the disconnect browser plugin in addition to adblock to try and hide from their tracking systems.

In rare instances that games I really want to play require a facebook login to be functional, I'll use an account I took over from someone that created the account with my email instead of their own.

Too bad I can't get LM and kids off of the stupid platform :-\

I like the ending:
Will humanity find a way to scrape through? Anderson asked. Harari was optimistic in the most depressing way possible. “As a historian, I know you should never underestimate human stupidity,” he said. “It’s the most powerful force that has shaped human history.”

Good summary of 2018 + Q1 2019. It's striking how much turnover there had been in the executive team.
