No, it's not a band like NSync. It's more like V-sync, but better.

Who here is gonna replace their screens for this tech over the next couple years? You'd eliminate tearing and stuttering doesn't look quite so bad...

I really like the idea; I read this AnandTech article about it earlier today:

I wonder how long it'll take to get a color-accurate G-Sync 30" monitor with 2560x1600 resolution or higher. I really don't want to have to compromise on color and viewing angles after having gotten used to good IPS panels (currently an H-IPS in my Dell U3011).
