Pros:

- 55W consumption for ~250W of brightness (Compact Fluorescent)
- Dimmable (not crappy three-way)
- Comes with bulb (~5 year aveage life)
- From experience, essentially Instant-on (not like crappy ccfls)
- The dimmer can break, in which case you can fix the switch or toss the lamp. I've done the prior with two in the past.
- Since it's compact fluorescent, there is (a small amount) of mercury in the bulb (do not lick)
- Bulbs are ~$20
Other:
- I currently own three of these and love them (2+ from Lowe's, the rest from Home Depot).
- If I remember correctly, I've owned seven extremely similar models. The dimmer broke on two of them after many years, one broke during my latest relocation (shade was shattered during unpacking), and I sold one to an old roommate before relocating to a smaller place.
- I bought two more lamps since they are awesome and I like light.
- Lowe's search utility/tagging sucks. This lamp does NOT show up under floor lamps nor does it show up under $25-$50. It's a good thing I knew exactly what I was looking for.
