Mr. Lee-Shue! What are you using to drive this monitor? I am very interested in getting a 2560 pixel wide monitor. I am also very interested in my computer not running like ass and in my computer not sounding like a vacuum cleaner. I had taken a blood oath to only buy single slot mainstream cards from here on out, but if I make the leap to 2560 I'm going to be underpowered. SLI is problematic because I have enough trouble with single card compatibility under Linux. I could be happy with a quiet beefy card, assuming some enterprising ODM is churning them out. Also, I pretty much have to run Nvidia; I'll check into ATI's open source driver progress, but their binary driver is known balls.

Radeon 4870 w/1gb ram

with a T-Rad2 after-market VGA cooler:

Current computer info here:

Starcraft 2 and L4D2 run great, but I haven't tried many others.
IMHO, SLI sucks, since it's the epitome of diminishing returns.

What quality settings are you running L4D on? I assume you never run at anything but native resolution? What's your definition of runs great? 60 fps? 30?
SC2 is CPU bound and pretty useless for this comparison.
So:

Under load, a 570 consumes 20% more power than 4870, and is about twice as fast. Or I could wait for a 560, which will probably be same power as a 4870 and 50% faster.

L4D2 == max everything (8x MSAA, Anisotropic 16X, etc.), 16:10 aspect ratio (16:9 not officially supported )
Not sure of frame rate, I haven't noticed any degradation. The source engine is super optimized.
