This is an opinion piece claiming that the judge was wrong. I have no doubt that Viacom will appeal, if possible. I'm of the opinion that a society where Viacom is right is gonna get kinda crazy fucked up.

How exactly are Viacom and others directly making money from tv shows that nobody can see outside of the time they're aired on tv if they're not offered online through some portal and certainly not on dvd yet? If they set up a licensing agreement with hulu or have the shows on demand on their own site I could maybe understand, but I feel they're not being directly harmed if they fail to use their material all the time. A book can be obtained and read all the time. A tv show not available on demand is not the same thing and should be treated differently.

Now, once they are able to deliver content on demand, the price should be reasonable as well with an option to deliver it for free with ads like the original broadcast.
