I originally found it from the comments at this article:

Edit: VLSmooth: Renamed subject from "Google Chrome Comic Book" to "Google Chrome"

Notes
  • It's 38 pages (39 if you count the credits).
  • Putting it in comic/manga form was genius
    * except for the extra clicking and load times
    * they probably didn't use tricks like AJAX as much as they wanted to ensure widespread compatibility

Most of the visuals didn't add anything.

True, but I was more inclined to page through the comic than to read it in paragraph form.

Has anyone tried it out yet? thoughts? pros/cons?

Download from here:
http://www.google.com/chrome/

Quick Pros:
  • Noticeably (much) faster than even Firefox 3
    * aside: I have not tried TraceMonkey for Firefox yet
  • Minimalist
  • Most firefox keyword shortcuts work (ctrl+tab, ctrl+shift+tab, etc)
  • Dragging tabs (even between windows) is seamless
  • The most visited default page is hot
Quick Cons:
  • No full-page zoom :(
  • Lacking in some usability/functionality (examples: can't open up an entire folder of bookmarks by middle-clicking, middle-click scroll, spelling suggestions, etc)
  • Expected lack of plugins
Quick Other:
  • Yay for task manager and text field resizing

Also, as expected, I'm definitely using this for gmail and google reader!

Ok, Chrome loads pages CRAZY fast and is very responsive. It's definitely noticeable without needing to time it.

Just wanted to be clear.

You can drag tabs between windows of Firefox (at least 3, maybe predecessors).

I'm not planning to try it any time soon. I've heard it doesn't have equivalents to AdBlock, and I'll extrapolate that it doesn't have a CookieSafe or NoScript equivalent either (thought they'd be trivial to build in directly). Adding a back door for Gears and running Google searches every time I type in the address bar doesn't seem like the right direction either, though the latter is occurring less and less frequently.

Yes you could drag tabs, and I believe you could do it earlier, with full history. The "seamless" was referring to the speed.

Yes, it's missing (add-ons/plug-ins/whatever you want to call them) and I agree that's one of the biggest disadvantages currently. I'd also like image zoom, greasemonkey, and ie tab to add to your list.

For an additional con, there's also fuss (FUD?) about the EULA

Google Code's issue tracker is actually pretty good.

For example, here's an issue pertinent to my interests:
Chrome fails to resize correctly with Winsplit Revolution

My issue's been fixed (issue 1193), but it requires using the dev build. If interested, read the issue for details (and how to update). Honestly, I'm not too thrilled about using the bleeding edge, but I like my Winsplit Revolution.

If only -magic_browzR wasn't so obscure. When I looked it up on 2008-09-06 there were very few search hits, none of which were useful.

Just in case this was the only showstopper for people, Google Chrome 0.3.154.3 now supports middle-clicking folders of bookmarks, opening them all in new tabs!

AdBlock functionality is my sole requirement for a browser.

Actually, that's not true, that's just the minimum required to get your foot in the door. Then we can start talking about other things.

I consider NoScript and CookieSafe (or equivalent) the minimum. I could live without AdBlock, but see no compelling reason to.

I've actually been building a zoom functionality on the side for firefox at work for a while now. It hasn't been going well. Too bad I can't use this.

Issue 8358: New feature request: full page zoom to browser width
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=8358

I finally wrote this feature request, after the idea has been bugging me ever since the introduction of full page zoom. To my knowledge, no other browser has a one-step "most zoomed in" state without a horizontal browser scrollbar yet.
