People are actually measuring the distortion a patient's eye introduces using computers and creating lenses designed specifically to fix that. It's about time eye exams actually used some, you know, science.

Here's the web page for the lazy. This is the commercial version promising good vision, not the military version promising super vision (that isn't available yet). They don't have any doctors performing the exams in Oregon or Virginia. They have one in Washington state...

Yeah, obviously. Oh wait, look, there are 5 in the SF Bay area alone and 4 of those are within 15 minutes of where I work.
