"Profile of the American Casino Gambler"

Gamblers have more disposable income, a more active lifestyle, and are less likely to be involved in religious groups than non-gamblers.

Fear of guns drives sales of guns, therefore the gun industry makes certain youths and criminals have access to guns.

I'd consider SUV's a weapon, and prepaid legal fees doesn't seem to count. You're not making people affraid of prepaid legal fees, just regular legal fees. It's kinda like insurance salesmen making you affraid to leave your house.

Have you ever looked at any of those prepaid legal services? Their pages are basically threats along the lines of everyone else has a lawyer (prepaid, on retainer, or otherwise) and is going to file groundless lawsuits against you. Therefore, buying our service (i.e., getting yourself a lawyer) is your only option to protect yourself. But I'd be willing to expand it from prepaid legal services to lawyers in general. The more lawyers you have, the more people will need lawyers to protect themselves.

Ok, I'm willing to accept that argument. So, lawyers and weapons, anything else?

So far, all this really seems to say about society is that it's one big power grab. I'm affraid of other people having more power over me, so I try to grab for more power first. Repeat ad infinitum. I guess the world world would be a boring place without fear as an incentive.

Microsoft: Free Downloadable Visual Studio 2005 Express ( thread )

Contains download links.
Dan wrote:Visual Studio Express is free for one year
Until November 7, 2006, we are promotionally discounting the downloadable versions of Express to free. This doesn’t mean that the product turns off after a year, but rather that as long as you download the product before November 7, 2006, you can get it for free and you can use it forever.
Found via this FatWallet thread.

This means we don't have to go to the launch events....

VC++ Express FAQ

So, anyone know any other differences between this version and the store bought version?

Dude, just sign up for the Launch Event I posted earlier. George and I have been using the express version for CMUd. Express versions are basically single langue version of VS 2005. That and it's missing some features most people dont use.

Or if you can convince your company to get you a copy of MSDN you could've been using VS.NET 2005 pro for the last 2 weeks like I do.

They should add a secret mode where if you concentrate hard enough, your enemies' heads explode. That would screw with the kids' minds.

The Kansas decision came as voters in Pennsylvania replaced all eight school board members who approved a similar policy in some of the state's schools.
Woah, when did that happen?

Damn. I can't keep up with all these web frameworks coming out. It's almost like every few days a new one comes out. I have no idea what to use at work.
