I took my chair here and I threw it over my shoulder and I went, 'Bam'... They were getting in front of me and I was there a lot earlier than them, so I thought that it was just.

Haha. Yeah they must. Because even without a real goalkeeper the fact that the other team had at least 50 shots on goal says a lot about the rest of their team.

I daresay I agree.

When I read "British Phonographic Industry" I daresay you know what I thought it said.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

"One guest even brought a pair of gold Presidential Rolex watches," New Jersey FBI Special Agent in Charge, Leslie G. Wiser Jr., told reporters in Newark.
You know I would feel really shitty if I busted people who brought me Rolex watches to my fake wedding ...

According to my calculations, a fighter jet engine does significantly north of 1,000 kW, so they could theoretically just leave the laser on the whole dogfight (or missle attack or whatever). I wonder how much atmospheric loss they get.

The engine is doing a lot of other stuff during a dogfight including providing thrust, radars, avionics, and ECM. It is unlikely that any aircraft would be fielded with a truly continuous 1 kW laser, let alone the 1MW monster you mentioned. Also, there's probably a huge amount of waste heat to dissipate even with the improvements.

I'm more interested in whether they'll be able to apply the technology as an air-to-air weapon. Then, you'll really have sci-fi kind of battles. Of course, it will be better once the planes can transform into robots...

I was going on the numbers quoted in the article and DARPA's site, which claim 150 kW for a weapons-grade system. By "north" of 1 MW I mean approaching 10 MW, at which point 150 kW starts to look like a pretty small slice of the pie. Perhaps no afterburners when lasing? My gut says that 150 kW is only enough for a point defense for incoming air-to-air or surface-to-air missles, but what do I know?

All this could promote is some sort of hellfire anti-aircraft system. It's the classic, oh yeah, you can stop 1, but can you stop 10? Oh, you can stop 10, but can you stop 100? Eventually cost will get in the game too, but I doubt it will kick in for a while...
