Pretty nifty.

http://zero-install.sourceforge.net/

Also nifty, albeit more complicated.

Both suffer from a one-way translation from current packaging standards (apt and rpm). Autopackage says they're working on integrating autopackage installations back into the apt or rpm db.

Ok, which is more fucked up: Texas law, or the couple in this case? I can't choose.

moderately funny, but also mentions "Carnegie Mellon's medical school".

So, apparently CMU's reputation is good enough that some satirist just assumed we had a medical school.

Vin Diesel does not own a washer or dryer, but rather swallows his laundry load, and chases it with detergent. Then, he shits clean clothes, and burps bubbles.

Physics processing unit for offloading the game physics and letting the CPU handle AI/gameplay... I wonder if AI will be offloaded too, then the only thing the CPU has to do is make sure everybody plays well with others... (the chips, not gamers)

Kind of interesting. If US does drop out of supoort for the space station, I think Asia and Europe should pick up the slack. I mean, Japanese like to dream about the space so much (... ok I shouldn't base it on anime, bite me), it fits their desire for conquest perfectly.

Forget the comic. Just read the letters. My favorite is "Optimus Prime."

Even after the autopsy which has entirely vindicated Mr. Schiavo against numerous smears by the Schindler family, the Schindlers are still fucking clueless.

Wow, I think they have lost it :? Still thinking about legal action? I think they should pay the husband for all the legal fees he had to fork out over their fuck-up-ness.

They should've let her live and kill her parents instead.

Microsoft invites hackers over to hack their software in front of their engineers so that the engineers get annoyed and will want to write more secure software... Am I the only one that's thinking this won't really work?

Gov. Bush Seeks New Inquiry Into Schiavo Case

http://nytimes.com/2005/06/17/national/ ... r=homepage

Mr. Bush focused on what he said were discrepancies in the timeline concerning her initial collapse on Feb. 25, 1990, and the summoning of aid. He said that records showed that Mr. Schiavo called 911 at 5:40 a.m. that day. Mr. Bush noted in his letter to Mr. McCabe that Mr. Schiavo had said during a medical malpractice trial in 1992 involving his wife that Ms. Schiavo collapsed at 5 a.m., but in a more recent television interview had said that he found her at 4:30 a.m.

"Between 40 and 70 minutes elapsed before the call was made, and I am aware of no explanation for the delay," Mr. Bush wrote. "In light of this new information, I urge you to take a fresh look at this case without any preconceptions as to the outcome."

Frankly, we need to stop encouraging people to go vote. If you don't know why it is important to vote, then stay the hell home, because you probably don't know enough to intelligently cast a vote anyhow. "Get out the vote" campaigns are at best drives to sign up supports and at worst just base demagoguery.

Note, I still like believing
  • People can learn
  • People aren't naturally stupid (some choose to be)
  • Most human statistics are inaccurate (yet generally show some truth)
however, reading the above is a tad frightning.
