I think I will forge some of the WoW skins for Sonya that have a specific nostalgic theme, but right now it seems like I just force myself to play my lowest level character to get loot boxes faster!

i bought Rexxar and D.Va so I own all the warriors now. I bound the self-cast trait to my mouse button, which seems to make a the definitive difference in how I micro Misha. Rexxar is pretty fun in QM with Animal Husbandry and Flare to fuck up those QM stealthies.

My updated personal tier list:

Tier 1: Muradin, Johanna, Anub'arak, Uther, Brightwing, Cho, Artanis

I feel fairly dangerous when playing these heroes. I show Anub on every map except Tomb (Xul) and Hanamura (Brightwing because Azmodan gets banned). With a late pick, I usually wind up on Muradin (or Zarya on a two lane map). If forced to heal, I strongly prefer Uther but I play Brightwing more because of comps/bans. I can hit Divine Storm but I struggle with Divine Shield. I've never actually drafted Cho but I spammed him for the OVERWATCH quest chain so I feel pretty good on him.

Tier 2: Sgt. Hammer, Azmodan, Xul, Stitches, E.T.C., Raynor, Diablo, Kerrigan, The Butcher, Gazlowe, Rexxar, Zarya, Valla, Li Li, Sonya, Thrall, Leoric, Dehaka, Tyrael, Murky

These are all heroes I like, situationally. I actually downgraded Diablo. He's good, but you need to stack the Q quest to make him good and I can't do it reliably. I've been spamming bruisers and melee ambushers in QM, but so far only Artanis is someone I feel confident to draft. Tyrael and E.T.C. both spent time on my Tier 1 in 2016 but since the removal of Imposing Will and Rock Star AS both are sadly situational.

Tier 3: Falstad, Greymane, Arthas, Lunara, Rehgar, Malfurion, Kharazim, Jaina, Tyrande, Ragnaros, Zeratul, Abathur, Lt. Morales, Varian, D.Va, Zul'jin, Zagara, Auriel

These are great heroes I am incapable of playing well. I put Valla and Kerrigan on my list of situational assassins. I actually drafted Kerrigan and won. Artanis would have been better, but I didn't think of him at the time.

Tier 4: Chen

I probably should not have bought these heroes. (They actually came in my mega bundle.)

Edit: Looks like I'm better on Uther than I thought if I filter for this year only. And worse on Anub!

Code: Select all

		Uther	11	17 00:20:52	58.8 %

I'm still playing this game! I played with Vinny once.

Personal tier list:

Tier S: ETC, Diablo
I show either cow or devil in every game, and I insta lock one if I'm first pick. I prefer Diablo except on two lane maps because his tools aren't great for extended poke.
A good Mosh or Apocalypse can win a game you were losing, which is part of why I like these heroes. Both are also very good at punishing out of position enemies.

Tier 1: Muradin, Uther, Brightwing, Artanis, Dehaka

I feel fairly dangerous when playing these heroes. I would pick Dehaka a lot more but I feel he really shines with a second warrior. If I get into TL I'll probably play a lot more Dehaka. I also think Muradin is best with a second warrior.

Tier 2: Sgt. Hammer, Azmodan, Xul, Stitches, Cho, Raynor, Kerrigan, The Butcher, Gazlowe, Rexxar, Zarya, Valla, Li Li, Sonya, Thrall, Leoric, Tyrael, Murky, Johanna, Anub'arak

These are all heroes I like, situationally. I had to downgrade Johanna because I don't know how to play her since she lost regen. I like Anub'arak into mages with a second warrior but that's pretty rare. Tyrael I draft as counter via Sanc. I'm trying to be better at Sonya still.

Tier 3: Falstad, Greymane, Arthas, Lunara, Rehgar, Malfurion, Kharazim, Jaina, Tyrande, Ragnaros, Zeratul, Abathur, Lt. Morales, Varian, D.Va, Zul'jin, Zagara, Auriel, Gul'Dan, Illidan, Garrosh

These are great heroes I am incapable of playing well. Garrosh is the hero I am practicing most from this list; he gets banned frequently but he's really good in a 4 man. I can't hit the groundbreakers consistently yet. Morales is pretty useful so learning to play her well is my priority. Illidan owns if the other team has no counters so I may work up to that, too.

Tier 4: Chen

I probably should not have bought these heroes.

2017 Season 2 final standings: 39 games, 1 game over 0.500
I had to relearn Diablo so I didn't play him last season. ETC was nerfed bad and only got restored to respectability very late in the season so I didn't clock any games on him.

Hero Games Played Win Percent
Dehaka 10 80.0 %
Brightwing 5 40.0 %
Uther 4 50.0 %
Anub'arak 3 33.3 %
The Butcher 2 100.0 %
Xul 2 100.0 %
Johanna 2 50.0 %
Chromie 2 50.0 %
Leoric 2 0.0 %
Genji 1 100.0 %
Diablo 1 0.0 %
Li Li 1 0.0 %
Muradin 1 0.0 %
Sgt. Hammer 1 0.0 %
Valla 1 0.0 %

When I sort by Takedowns/Death, old Johanna and Dehaka are clearly my best heroes at 5.6/5.7 T/D. Maybe I'm really a Dehaka main.

Welp, 2017 Season 3 ended and I barely PVPed (14 games total). Just busy at work. I finished 4 games above .500.

Code: Select all

Hero	Hero Level	Games Played Average Length	Win Percent
		E.T.C.	11	3 00:18:35	66.7 %
		Diablo	20	3 00:21:44	33.3 %
		Stukov	3	2 00:19:10	100.0 %
		Li Li	7	1 00:12:53	100.0 %
		Sgt. Hammer	13	1 00:17:30	100.0 %
		Uther	13	1 00:16:43	100.0 %
		Dehaka	10	1 00:24:22	100.0 %
		Johanna	8	1 00:18:52	0.0 %
		Garrosh	5	1 00:21:57	0.0 %
Maybe I'm support main. 100% win rate, baby. If I was playing coordinated groups I'd main Muradin bruiser, as he's almost always the right choice for offtank. As solo tank, I'm too tempted to engage their backline and leave mine open.

In other news, 2018 Season 1 is a big change:

http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/blog/213 ... 12-12-2017
http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/blog/211 ... 11-17-2017
  • The first Battleground objective event will now activate 3 minutes into the match, following a 30-second warning
  • Regeneration Globes will now become neutral (claimable by both teams) if not claimed within 3 seconds.
  • All attacking structures no longer have ammunition.
  • Minion, merc, and structure stats have been adjusted.
  • In-game Camera height has been significantly increased in order to provide more visibility of the battlefield.
  • Added a new Stealth visual effect. Enemy Stealthed Heroes should now be easier to spot.
  • The matchmaking system has been updated to include a performance-based data-driven system, which takes individual player performance into account when determining MMR gains and losses.
I think it means a little bit less early game "what do?" and a bit more "git gud". Fewer decisions to make but more opportunity to outplay, if that makes any sense. In particular, with the objectives popping at 3 minutes the scaling will make the first one actually good at pushing. Too often the correct decision making was to half-ass the first objective because it barely gave any value.

Posting this makes me wonder how these stats look over time (includes QM to get older data).
Pre-season: 70-54
2016S1: 33-21
2016S2: 2-9
2016S3: 13-7
2017S1: 53-50
2017S2: 25-24
2017S3: 9-5

Feels about right. I crushed early as the matchmaker learned about me, but it knows how good I am now and I'm not climbing. Hard games are hard. Diamond players in my games usually crush me with better jukes/ganks, though sometimes they're not playing comfort picks (since I don't play ranked) and I can hang. I aspire to play with plat players but I'm throwing winnable games too often with bad decision-making. I win against low gold and worse players with decent soak, basic mechanics, and keeping my team from engaging without an advantage. There's a surprising population of people like me who play unranked only, as well.

My draft is definitely not a strength and I need to work on that. I definitely think bruiser+tank or offtank+tank is a superior composition, but when I volunteer to tank I think I'm clearing the lane for people to just pick assassins. Not sure how to finesse that.

I also tilt and run it down mid too often when things start heading south. I did turn around my last game of the season 19 minutes in after a huge XP deficit with core defense plus a teamfight over the spider turn-in. Got big value on Adaptation.

New quest chain May 22-June 21 with a Mexican wrestling announcer voicepack at the end.

Play 3 Games
Achieve 70 Takedowns in Winning Game
Win 6 games
Achieve 100 Takedowns in Winning Games

I've been playing Heroes recently a bit, so I'll probably finish this quest chain. I suspect I'll average a dozen or less takedowns per AI game with randos, though.

Vinny, log in and help me get 30 takedowns per game! Kael'thas has Ignite (for bombs on Q) again. :D
