Pre-order now to get the extended skins set.

Ars likes it, even though the reviewer seems a little shaky on what an XCOM game is.

Comes out Friday!

So is Sid Meier still in this game?!

I dunno.

It needs 30 GB to download! I have like 25GB free on my SSD after cleaning up my drive this morning. I think I need a new SSD.

Probably going to delete Portal 2, which is a PITA because I did intend to beat that game. Eventually.

First impressions:

This seems to be what a sequel should be. Same as the first, but refined.

A lot of the dominant tactics from the first game are not useful here. There's a new armor mechanic that means your grenadiers and sharpshooters need to work together to take out big monsters. Fortunately, the grunt Advent don't one-hit, one-kill your troops on Commander difficulty, unlike Sectoids from XCOM EU on Classic. There's less of a spike in power between rookies and squaddies, so losses can be replaced more smoothly.

Sadly, I can barely tell what's going on during action cam. My video card does exceed the minimum requirement, for Windows. For the Linux version, I am below the minimum and it shows.

Finally, I think that has got to be the most emotionally satisfying tutorial I've ever played.

I had to pre-order to show support for Linux gaming.

Extraction of surviving units after a mission goes sour is much easier in this game compared to Enemy Unknown.
