Oh, I see, you're trying to blame me for being impatient to get us to beat each other to a pulp so when you get out of that box of yours, you can clean up. Clearly, Skanks and I should team up against the instigator first...

Calumny and lies! I am telling Imperator Skanks to submit. Always submit. That's my advice.

And first submitted now...

Skanks seems to be trying to control his territory better, but being almost 100 ships down, who knows...

Looks like Jon and Neal are the slow players... If you're gonna work together, you should at least be quick about it. Anyways, you may as well take all night now, I dunno if I'll get to check up on the game later.

I don't know if I like the 12 hour ticks. Maybe I just need to adjust my play style for turn based game, but in realtime game, since it takes multiple hours for the ships to get anyway, I can position ships near by and move them to defense when I see enemy ships moving. Last turn Jon was able to take my planet without that indication, while I should probably prepare better but it's unrealistic to defend multiple planets at once.

Not sure what my point is.

It's a good point.

The default is 8 tick jumps. I was worried we wouldn't submit enough turns per day to make that entertaining.

There'd also be the option of the 6 tick jumps. I thought that might be fun for us if the production cycle was similarly ratcheted down, to 12-18 somewhere.

Pushing stars a bit further apart would have a similar affect and might actually make warp gates somewhat useful as opposed to super-expensive wastes.

I made the warp gates expensive. I can make them cheap or normally priced. If you ask me, I probably regret making them expensive in this game. We'll see how quickly it wraps up.

I agree changing the average distance between stars would be the same effect, but I can't actually change the distance between stars. I can change the player positions, with either the easy/medium/far .66/1.00/1.33x modifier to a 12 ly distance, or I can set the player positions explicitly in a custom universe. The stars are auto-populated with either random scatter around the player position (what we've been playing) or with a static circular pattern (seems boringly predictable to me).
