Somebody tell me how this differs from an expansion pack.

Are you implying StarCraft 2 is an expansion to StarCraft 1? If so, I can re-assure you that StarCraft 2 is a very significant improvement in almost all areas, especially the user interface (MAJOR), unit mix, and tactics (changed visibility, different map elements, etc).

Are you referring to the three part release schedule for StarCraft 2? If so, SC2WoL is the base game focused on the Terran single-player story. The Protoss and Zerg storylines will be introduced later as expansions and require SC2WoL.

I might just do the digital download onto my current battlenet account... hopefully it will be cheaper?

From this (blizzard), I still can't tell how much Blizzard is going to charge. It would be VERY convenient though, since it allows the full client download now.

In case people are wondering, the digital download has supposedly been cracked (link), by "vernam7" from the StarCrack team. However, he's not allowing anyone access to the crack until the official release date (07-27).

Edit: Added supposedly.

Not noticing differences doesn't mean they're not there! (on the flipside, if you don't notice them, it probably doesn't matter to you)

Got the midnight release of the normal version (and a free bottle of nos energy drink!). They ran out of the midnight release bonus posters before I got my copy though.

I've also finished the first 3 missions with full achievements.

There were no promotional females at Best Buy's midnight release near me :(

They needed to put the logo a bit higher on the shirt or get bigger breasted girls so that the logo can be seen better. However, if they're trying to promote fans to lie on the floor to see the logo better and maybe see up their skirts, then they did a good job. Unfortunately, I think they're wearing shorts.
