Apparently incredibly popular. Why have none of you told me about this? Mohtalim has failed!

Addictive. My best is level 5, 43%.

Woo a flash game thread...and yet soo few games
I love flash games so I'll share what I have found so that all of you can enjoy too!
First up:
http://www.eyezmaze.com/
Genre: Puzzle
Addictiveness: *****
Good: Easy to learn, original
Bad: No fast forward feature, trial and error syndrome
Ugly: Trying to figure out the twisted logic found in certain puzzles
Description: Quasi-cutesy graphics with a talent for story-telling, this flash author has come up with an interesting variant of a "choose your own adventure" puzzle called Grow. The basic premise of the game is to drop different things into a preset environment and watch as things interact with each other and the environment over time. The game is turn based and time will pass after each turn so the order of drop choices is important (ie. if the environment is a piece of land and your drop choices are fish and a pond, if you drop the fish in before the pond then the fish will die).
My favorite grow puzzle and the easiest way to see what I'm talking about is this:
http://www.eyezmaze.com/grow/RPG/index.html
Also to note, an interesting time variant puzzle:
http://www.eyezmaze.com/chronon/v0/index.html

http://littlefluffy.com/ - flash game blog/review site, sadly doesn't seem to be updating any more
http://homokaasu.org/gasgames/game.gas?6 - the gas games collection is quite interesting. I wouldn't call all the games fun, but they are all innovative.

Btw, were there even instructions? I'll give the designer props for intuitiveness though.
Boo vinny spoiled the solution to everyone -_-. The chrono puzzle is a lot harder actually. In fact I had to look up a walkthru....
http://www.miniclip.com/games/heli-attack-3/en/
Genre: Action/Shooter
Author: http://www.squarecircleco.com/
Addictiveness: ***
Good: Although simplistic, blowing up waves of aircrafts is kinda fun
Bad: Repetitive, lack of variety
Ugly: Trying to take out an Apache with a bow and arrow.....
Description: Boasting over 30 weapons of destruction and four different environments, squarecircleco has come back with yet another installment of it's Heli-attack series. You play the role of a lone grunt soldier, dropped in the middle of nowhere, hunted by aircrafts and helicopters for some reason. Initially armed with only a knife, pistol, and some grenades you must survive wave after wave of increasingly difficult and dangerous helicopters as you traverse through the snow, jungle, canyon, and a random lab. To help you along the way, you have the ability to slow down time, super jump, and pick up random goodies as you blow up everything that stands in your way.
Review: I've actually never heard of this series before heli3 but from my quick glance of the predecessors, the authors have done quite a nice job of updating/modifying the series. I found myself hooked on this game after the first few rounds and finishing it in one sitting. Although the game is rather repetitive in nature, the assortment of weapons does add to much amusement. In addition, the difficulty scales fairly well and you'll find yourself more focused on staying alive then on blowing up anything. Oh, and I"m not kidding about the bow and arrow....

For today we have....
http://nextframe.jp/flash/the2chBattle.html
Genre: Fighting (1vs1)
Author: http://nextframe.jp/
Addictiveness: @@@@@
Good: You fight using characters drawn in ASCII...nuff said....
Bad: No combos or special moves and certain characters are unbalanced.....
Ugly: Getting your ass owned by a kitty in a cardboard box......
Description: For those who don't know 2channel, it is a well know japanese internet forum which has spurred off the growth of an unique internet culture. Emerging from this culture is the creation of Shift JIS art, or japanese emoticon ascii art. In paying homage to 2channel, the developers at Nextframe have created a fighting game featuring a cast of six ascii art characters. Each character is unique in appearance and in fighting moves. Rock to the j-pop music as you combat and laugh at the hilarious signature moves of each character. For extra enjoyment, fight against a friend.
Review: Every once in a while I come across a flash game that absolutely amazes me. It either blows my mind though technical achievement or via execution of an idea. Being foreign to the 2channel japanese culture, I find it fascinating the amount of dedication that can go toward a cause. Although the game graphics are simple and the music is fairly short, the combined package of everything has made it faithful to the theme. The game-play was short-lived but I was greatly entertained. (I owned that stupid kitten in the box...booya...)
How To Play (for those who don't want to guess):
Menu:
1. Start Game
2. About
3. Revisions
4. Visit author website
Game Menu:
1 - single player
2 - quick battle (get to choose your opponent and difficulty level)
3 - practice
4 - options
Characters:
giko (cat) - try out his super....
C (kitty in a box) - stupid damn kitty...
mona- (owl?) - packs a punch....
ninjya (ninja) - there's a naruto reference somewhere...
niraimu (onion head..) - yes...it's a bulb of onion or would you say an onion bulb?
karutan (psycho girl) - she uses her baby brother as a weapon/shield.....
Controls:
z - quick attack
x - strong attack
c - ranged attack
v - super (heart) attack
left, left/right right + c - dash attack
up - jump
up up - double jump
down - block
left/right - move left/right
left, left/right, right - dash left/right
Note: As you fight you will notice a counter increase from 0 to 1000 located between player 1 and player 2's health bar. This number indicates the current cumulative damage taken by either player. Whenever the counter hits an interval of 100 a message will appear indicating that the super attack is ready for use (one of the kanji is heart I think..). The player that does the majority of damage for that 100 points of damage and lands the last blow to set the counter at 100 will be awarded the chance of a super attack. Once you receive that message you have a few moments chance to execute the super which will be nullified if you get attacked or you wait too long. There are also damage multipliers but I have yet to work out how those work.
....bleh this review took way to long...was gonna write about other things on this site...I'll do more after lunch =).

Other things to note on this webpage:

XQSite ( http://www.xqsite.com/ ) hosts the highly-addictive Flash Flash Revolution (FFR) for those that haven't tried it.
FFR is essentially a web-based Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) played with a keyboard instead of a dance pad. Points are earned, points can be spent on add-ons, multiplayer is supported, chat services exist, etc.
Random: According to Mohtalim's search, I haven't mentioned FFR yet, although it feels like a case of deja vu...

The author says he can get to level 90. I crap out at 75 quite reliably. There doesn't seem to be enough money to upgrade a flower tower twice (3000+5000+15000) by level 74.Dwindlehop wrote:http://www.tokenarcade.com/play-578-Str ... fence.html
I got upto lvl 69 w/o a single flower tower...never had the money since i kept upgrading my other towers. Interesting enough, the leaf tower I believe is the cheapest investment because at max lvl it does 9000 dmg, 300 range for a total uprading cost of around 2000. Too bad they don't list rate of fire because the fire towers do "appear" to fire faster...yet are short ranged. Also the ice towers have a insane range yet they are quite expensive to upgrade =/.Dwindlehop wrote:The author says he can get to level 90. I crap out at 75 quite reliably. Slightly better, but has an end to it. I can't be bothered to figure out how the score is calculated, but beating level 39 took long enough that I'm not going to try to top my high score.
Regarding the previous one, nature towers are the cheapest per damage and have enough range if you put them in the right places. There is a bug or feature which makes the towers shoot faster if placed at the end of a hallway so they shoot directly at incoming dots. You can also stretch the playing field and place a tower beside the entrance. If you do that you can get upgraded flower towers. Other tricks including tricking the bounds checking on tower placement so you can stack them much more closely. One player reports he was able to make the storm tower do something, but I can't reproduce it.
I googled around for all this info. I'm sick and staying home from work. With just nature towers going straight into halls I got to 79. If you do the upgraded flower tower you can make it to around 103. I wonder what exactly the author is doing to make it to 90. Does he use these "cheats"?

Gah... I've actually been busy with meetings...soo many meetings....and I"m still not done discussing all the classic flash games yet . I'll review a more recent flash game next time...whenever that is.

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/257008 - Picnic Panic (some of the ads on newgrounds aren't really SFW in my opinion)
I think Picnic Panic is the best of the turret defenses. The element of twitch is present because of 100% recycling, so you can destroy your first base and build a new one right at the end. The monsters are varied and interesting. By far the worst problem it has is that the levels don't present a great escalating path, and the game is too short.
