Having used it for half and hour, I can say without reservation that it doesn't seem to suck in any obvious way. Well, except for disabling most of my out-of-date extensions.
I think it'll make a good dent in IE's market share.

I waited a week and a half and then upgraded. All my extensions were auto-updated except BugMeNot. I found a new version of BugMeNot through Google and all was well. So far I don't think 1.0 has exited with a segfault, which 1.0PR did about once per week.
The 1.0 versions have a much better 'Find' interface than 0.9. I use it all the type, especially with 'Find as you type' enabled.
Can't say I've noticed any slowdown. Just DNS problems...

Since pretty much all of the extensions are packed in .jar's, I believe it's possible to just "update" them yourself to work with new versions of firefox. If I'm bored, or annoyed enough with not getting an update, I'll figure out how to do it and let you know. Here's where I plan to start figuring it out in case someone else gets bored before me...
