Double red blood cell donation

Post by Jonathan »

Normally, after a blood cell donation I feel general malaise. Kind of run down and achey all over.

I did a double red cell donation today for the first time. They give you saline to replace the red blood cells. First, you pee a lot. Second, it's cold. Third, I felt better after donating than normal, but worse after cycling.

I did a second double red donation a couple months ago. It's really noticeable how much longer it takes to fully recover, in terms of my cycling capacity.

I'm just going to donate regular units from now on.

You should fill a couple bags for yourself and freeze them, then transfuse yourself a few months later before a long ride and see how much faster you are!

Blood doping for the win! (And then the disqualification!) Or, you should just regularly get blood from children (or I guess 18 y/o's if you're going to do it legally) to reverse some aging effects.
