Is it worth my time to learn about this platform? Assume my interest is building software to run on it not designing hardware running it.

It seems dumb to me. Renee really really likes it, though.

I am only reading about it because Samsung is big on it, but I am not sure how it's different from any other embedded Linux and if all app is meant to be creating in html5 why not just use android.

No one has ever presented a compelling end-user or customer justification to me.

Maybe it has some value as an OS for systems with a lower TDP than smartphones, but I have never had anyone articulate that to me. Certainly Google seems to think Android ain't the answer when you go lower.
