I gained 2"!!

Post by Dave »

Upgraded my LCD from a 22" (Samsung) to a 24" (Dell 2408) and it is pretty damn awesome. Dual screened with the old 19" so I can watch episodes of Six Feet Under while I'm playing WoW.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

I stole a NEC 24" LCD from a co-worker that got laid off, it's pretty sweet

So I'm not sure if I have a defective monitor or not, but I'm noticing a fairly distinct red "Solarization" effect kind of like tv static when you have no signal on the tv. Its only apparent on dark backgrounds (dvds, gaming) but is pretty epic fail. Not 100% if its the video card or cables, but have a feeling its the LCD. Anyone have any exp with this problem?

Well, start with trading cables... Then try the monitor with another computer hooked up, maybe a laptop...
