The cord jacket is awesome. It's got a modest academic charm without being too polished, which is good for us rugged Westerners and other people unaccustomed to the accoutrements of wealth. It also has Indiana Jones appeal. It can be used to instantly upclass a wardrobe in a jiffy.

Go for one with the elbow patches.

I yearn for the days of yore. The days of pirate contemporary.

I still see haunting vestiges when I travel about the city.

Also, may I suggest: Hat.

I am bringing the hat back, boy.

And finally, Corduroy pants.

Classy, but not too classy. I have some on right now.

I cleaned house at JCrew yesterday. Got that corduroy jacket with patches for only $40. The salesman was compounding my discounts, giving me nearly 65% off even on sale items. This is an even better time to be shopping that Spring 2003.

This recession economy is making some awesome deals.
