Enermax Modu82+ EMD625AWT

Post by VLSmooth »

If you're in a market for a PSU, you might be interested in knowing I bought an Enermax Modu82+ EMD625AWT for $79.99 after rebate.

It's retail $189.99, but currently has an instant $30 rebate from Newegg and an $80 mail-in-rebate that expires 2008-12-05.

  • Review: SilentPCReview
    • page6: "The Modu82+ 625 is the first power supply made by a company other than Seasonic to take the highest position as the quietest fan cooled PSU reviewed by SPCR... it's likely that the Modu82+ is, in fact, the quietest fan-cooled PSU in the world today.
The near-inaudible acoustics of this Enermax do not come at the expense of other performance aspects. On the contrary, the efficiency is as high as any PSU we've tested, probably higher; voltage regulation is very tight; the ripple noise is low; and cooling is certainly good enough... the Modu82+ 625 is an excellent power supply."
The other contender in my mind is the still-to-be-released Enermax Revolution series (anandtech) which provides 85%+ efficiency for the majority of loads. However, it's estimated to cost in the $300 range and still hasn't been released.
