So Microsoft installed some new component: Genuine advantage (or something like that.

Now its whining that my software is pirated. Any suggestions how I can disable this feature before this feature disables me?

Assuming you're not actually pirated, I think the proper course of action is to call them up on the phone and yell at them until they reactivate you. By "proper", I mean giving in to the man and doing what they want you to do.

The way to avoid calling them up and waiting on hold is to find a "patch" that removes/disables the stupid genuine advantage update.

I found that patch a while ago. Ha. Someday I will write an OS that runs on my own smugness.
