Just found this amusing. It's probably quite old as well:

But that's all going to change Real Soon Now:

The European Union commissioners announced that agreement was reached to adopt English as the preferred language for European communication rather than German, the alternate choice.

In the negotiations compromises had to be made, Her Majesty's Government conceded that there is some room for improvement in English language spelling. A five year program was accepted for phasing in EuroEnglish or Euro for short. In the first year "s" will replace the soft "c'. Sertainly sivil servants will resieve this joyfully. The hard "c" will be replaced by "k". Not only will Konfusion be Klarified but typewriters will have one less letter.

In the sekond year "ph" will be relaced by "f" so words like fotograf will be 20% shorter.

By the third year publik akseptans kan be ekspected for more komplikated changes. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters which have always detered akurate speling. Also al wil agre that silent "e's" is disgrasful and must go

By the fourth year peopl wil be reseptv to replasing "th" by "z" and "w" by "v".

During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be droped from vords kontaining "ou" vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinationsof leters.

After ze fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl ritin styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi to understand ech ozer.

Ze drem vil finali kum tru.
