Re: Windows 7 Gaming PC?
Well, I finally replaced my graphics card. Also a Radeon 6950, but I don't plan on reflashing (couldn't if I wanted to, not a reference design). After an hour of playing oblivion, the 6950 seem quantitatively faster than the Radeon 5450 it replaced. And, it came with a registration key for 3DMark 11...

Re: Giant Eagle this Sunday!!
I saw a 7/11, a Subway, a grocery store (Giant Not-Eagle, I think), an ice cream store, and one of two Walmarts open today.

Woah, what the hell happened to our alliance? Eaglestrike vanished, Nexas is getting booted.

Re: Might and Magic:Heroes Kingdoms
I played the first level of HoMM5, and was so disappointed that I uninstalled it. I disliked that heroes were no longer units, and the graphics were unnecessarily 3D and hard to make out. But maybe that was just a bad first impression.

Re: Might and Magic:Heroes Kingdoms
If John's city doesn't go inactive, we can conquer it. Big points for the alliance.

Re: Might and Magic:Heroes Kingdoms
I plan to name my third city "Bolthole" in honor of my eventual doom. I'll put it dead center within the alliance.
But, if we hadn't joined them, I still would have been conquered by Redemption. The only difference is that at the same time you guys would have been taken over by Shenanigans.

Re: Intel is the damnedest place
I received an award once that was so generically phrased I couldn't initially figure out what it was for. The presenter and other recipients didn't know either. I ended up figuring it out because I had only worked with the two other recipients together once. The three of us had stayed late one night...

Re: Might and Magic:Heroes Kingdoms
Oh, I wasn't planning on restarting. I figure I could still advance my economy. But I wasted some time this afternoon (stupid work) and this evening (stupid Vinny), so I'm behind where I could have been. It will likely be a day or more before I can recruit enough to free another zone. I am more hono...

Heh, apparently he saw me, and I learned practically nothing about him. But I got enough XP to level, so all good.

Re: Might and Magic:Heroes Kingdoms
It is a great honor to be a part of your noble cause, whatever that happens to be. I wiped out most of my army on a miscalculation, so I won't be doing anything militarily for a few more days. I'm mostly just upgrading mines as fast as I can. I also have a spare hero that was too low in level to do ...

Well, I'm way behind (I suppose I should be reading Mohtalim daily), but I'm in.

I doubt any of you get the reference, but I'm amused. Especially with Jonathan bordering Sphinx.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4142/intel-discovers-bug-in-6series-chipset-begins-recall Wow, yep, exactly the symptoms I'm seeing. Damn you Intel. Ironically, this is the first Intel product I've bought in a decade. On the other hand, they admitted the problem which puts them way ahead of Nvidia.

Re: Rent vs. Buy
Good god, where are they getting their DC numbers? I'd accept the home prices assuming that they're averaging in the folks in the boondocks. But $2400 to rent is what you'd pay in a nice building in a trendy neighborhood next to a metro station.

Re: Taco Bell's "seasoned beef" not USDA definition of beef
I'm surprised there is any actual beef in there. I would have guessed a mixture of sawdust and vegetable oil, with some beef broth for flavor.

Re: Windows 7 Gaming PC?
Is there any chance this flaw could be affecting me already? I had a spell where my system was laggy as hell. Unplugged and replugged stuff and it got better. Then the C drive disappeared for a few boots. And who do I get a replacement from? Microcenter (the retailer I bought it from) or Gigabyte (t...

Re: Windows 7 Gaming PC?
I picked up an i7 2600 (not K, I got over overclocking back in 2001) at Microcenter on launch day because they were only $250. I can't say anything useful about its performance, as I haven't replaced my graphics card and have only one non-demanding game installed. I have been running a program that ...

Re: Large Rent Increases Predicted
"I've never seen so much pent-up demand," said Jay Jacobson, a partner in the Boca Raton, Fla., office of Wood Partners, a national development and investment firm. How can you have pent-up demand for apartments? The presumable source of new demand is people losing their houses. They're not holding...

Re: Census Data Visualization
For gross income, that's a given. The median cost of living, or at least housing is much higher in most (thriving) urban areas. A more interesting statistic would be something like disposable income, or at least gross-(tax+housing+transportation). I speculate that urban might have an edge there, but...

The Official X of Mohtalim
So, talking about endorsements got me thinking. Mohtalim should be placing its seal of approval on stuff. Ideally, we'd get paid, but mainstream advertisers haven't seemed to recognize the value of our brand yet. But, that's cool; it means our picks are untainted by base financial considerations. So...
