The real way, the man's way to do this can be expressed succinctly as Net::IMAP::Simple . Woah, now you're speaking vinny's language. PERL!!!!!!! This reminds me of yesterday when Pei asked me how to selectively copy files in a directory structure while preserving the directory structure in the des...

Sigh

Meaning I'll need to reinstall cygwin and pine, or actually install debian?

Sadly though, I think I'm getting used to outlook, so I guess I could go with that (at least it's MUCH better than Lotus Notes, which I was forced to use last summer)

CuteFTP sux0rs

Full of Evil

iirc, high cpu utilization, slow, crappy interface, occasional crashes, evil reconnect of DOOM to piss off ftp servers (usually resulting in a very quick and persistent ban on your ip/domain), etc

Andrew AFS Stuff

So, how have people gone/will go about moving stuff from AFS?

I've debated on dumping all my mail into a large text file, tar'ing it, and grabbing it, but I'm fairly certain there has to be a better way.

Hmm... this also means I have to organize all my course files too, argh.

True, I should've suggested that since I used ncftp to connect to my server from the clusters all the time. Sigh, I'm losing it.

Interesting

When was the last time you tried on my glasses? o.o

I just recently got this astigmatism ~2 years ago.

Speaking of which, I need to take advantage of Argon's medical plan and get an eye checkup soon.

I got one

If you can, use a non-cmdline ftp client, like FlashFXP

btw, I recommend you avoid CuteFTP like the plague. Joe can probably attest to that.

oh, my prescription is -8.25 diopters. Interesting, I thought I was the only one with about -8 (not sure about the decimal) for my right eye. My left is -7.75 iirc, but has an additional a stigmatism of ~1. Yet I still seem to notice low refresh rates much easier than most people. Sigh, talk about ...

Actually...

you know, exploit writers need to get their shit together and come up with a p2p message passing system for remote discovery of compromised boxes. that way you wouldn't have to leave a bloody ftp program on port 48522 every time you compromised a machine. static behavior makes it too easy to detect...

In other news, three of the computers in the sensor-based planning lab were compromised recently... (yes, the infamous rpc exploit which left ftp servers on port 48522. Refer to Dave for more info :))
