Whoa, something worse than my Radeon 7200... it can still run both epsxe (does have minor issues) and warcraft 3 with reduced settings :)

I still think it was a very fine expenditure of ~$60 ~3 years ago.

Re: a different way to go

Add a $105 video card like Vinny's, and that's only $706. Just a word of warning, the softmod to a Radeon 9800 was icing on the cake. You have to make sure you have the right PCB with 8 pipelines (L-shaped memory configuration), otherwise it won't work. It was originally for my HTPC (home theatre p...

I'm way out of touch of current computer hardware. I don't even know half of these distinctions you guys are talking about. And when did the V-Man get an HDTV? How big? Is this in lieu of a monitor, or in addition for watching movies and anime? Can you really use an S-Video cable for something bett...

If by "performance increase from 512 to 1 gb" you mean "disable Windows virtual memory" then I can maybe see that. Otherwise, you'll have to clue me in. Yes, I did/do plan on disabling windows virtual memory. This , which I do take with a grain of salt, is another reason. Finally, I just want the r...

Also, ninety bucks is a dirty price for a barton. I had no idea they were that low. No wonder AMD is losing money like it was going out of style. Also, why PC2700? I would have figured you for an eXXtreme overclocker. And you went for the 400 ultra, which says to me, "Overclock me to 400 MHz FSB." ...

Uh, you mean 2x 256 MB Corsair, right? Because otherwise you're not getting the dual-channelness out of your nForce2. That's 2x512 = 1 gb That's nice. You didn't say that. (2) 512mb Corsair XMS (extreme memory series,CAS2,PC-2700C2PT) ($206) Also, I wouldn't spend over $200 on just 512 mb of ram o.o

Corsair XMS ram is known for overclocking, so there's little reason to pay a premium unless I wanted to jump way above 400. If the processor can go from 333->400, the ram will likely do it easily, IF I want to go through the trouble. As for the 512 total, I wanted a gig, and believe the performance ...

All free, since only the case had shipping, and my sister covered that when buying her components ($15)

Lookie what I found during my break...

Heh, interesting commentary. I'll have to say I agree with most of it, and just wanted to add my two cents from recent personal experience. First off, I've recently purchased the following (1) Antec Sonata w/TruePower 380S ($104) (1) Refurbished Radeon 9500 w/128 MB ram ($105) (1) Monster Cable3 12 ...

Okay...

I gotta ask, what spawned this taco/kitty fetish?

Is this a result of pure randomness, a television show/commercial, news/current events, personal experience, an indirect way to assault the "yo quiero taco bell" chihuahua, or all of the above?

Re: Wait

What I meant, peijen understood and you didn't get is that there is absolutely no difference between using a telnet client to connect to an ftp server and using some ftp client. I didn't mean to telnet and rcp or anything. I literally meant to telnet to the port of the machine with the ftp server a...

ftp IS in plain txt/binary
Very true, but chances are getting an ftp login alone only lets you download. Getting a hold of a telnet account... now you're talking :)

I think you linked to that before. Mine doing so again ^_^;

Also, how much info do I need to provide to use this service (since I'm guessing that's the catch, well, besides the fact everything you post is completely public).

Hmm...

I'm guessing I really should try this game (the entire discussion about drop patterns sounds frighteningly like Magical Drop 3), BUT... that's for next week, since I'm going to Otakon tomorrow for the weekend.

Must takes lots of pictures of cosplayers to frighten all!
